Making The Most Of Garden Features

Landscaping a garden is a delightful way to add your own stamp on the aesthetics of your home. However, when I moved into my first home, I had absolutely no clue about the best way to design a great landscape, or even what garden features were. I have created this blog because I want to share the landscaping ideas I have picked up in the past decade. Water features, privacy screens, bird baths and statues are all excellent options for garden features. So, have a read of my blog posts and see which of the garden features I write about appeal to you.

Tips for Choosing the Right Ride On Mower for your Landscaping Needs

After hiring a professional landscaper to design and layout your lawn, it is good practice to maintain the lawn yourself after that. You will save money by opting to take care of your yard as opposed to keeping the services of a professional landscaper. However, if you have an expansive lawn, then it might be challenging to push a standard lawn mower across the entire property. Not only is it tiring, but it is more than likely that you will not do an outstanding job. A ride on mower is the perfect solution because you can mow landscapes of whatever size quickly. That said, you need to choose the right ride on mower first; however, with a variety to choose from in the market, it can be overwhelming to sort through the specifications, features, and attachments. This article highlights ideas for determining the right ride on mower.

Size of Your Lawn -- Ride on mowers come in different sizes, and this is the first factor you must consider when choosing one. Large mowers are perfect for expansive and open lawns because of their generous cutting width. It allows you to cut a significant size with each trip. On the other hand, if you have a small lawn with lots of obstructions, then a smaller ride on mower is appropriate. A smaller cutting width allows mowers to maneuver tight passages between trees or along tight curbs. It is advisable to take a map of your lawn to the ride on mower vendor, and they will help you to choose the right size based on the dimensions and outlook of your yard.

Accessorising Capabilities -- Although the primary function of ride on mowers is to cut the grass on your lawn to size, modern mowers have accessorising capabilities. Instead of going for a ride on mower that only cuts grass, choose one with accessory attachment capabilities. For instance, some ride on mowers allow for trailer attachment which you can use to haul debris around the lawn. On other mowers, it is possible to fit spreaders that let you seed and fertilise your garden. Besides, in winter you can attach blowers to your ride on mower to clear away the snow on your driveway. Ideally, the more accessories you can connect to a ride on mower, the more functional the equipment.

The Gradient of your Lawn -- How much slope does your lawn have? Is it flat all through or does it have steep slopes in various sections? The gradient is an important aspect because if you choose the wrong ride on mower, then it can lead to accidents. For example, if your lawn is flat, then you can get away with picking just about any mower model. However, if your yard has high elevations in various points, then you need a riding mower with a low centre of gravity and impressive traction. The features will prevent the mower from toppling over when mowing on the slopes.
