Making The Most Of Garden Features

Landscaping a garden is a delightful way to add your own stamp on the aesthetics of your home. However, when I moved into my first home, I had absolutely no clue about the best way to design a great landscape, or even what garden features were. I have created this blog because I want to share the landscaping ideas I have picked up in the past decade. Water features, privacy screens, bird baths and statues are all excellent options for garden features. So, have a read of my blog posts and see which of the garden features I write about appeal to you.

It's Not Just Unsightly: 4 Ways Vegetation Clearing Benefits Your Home

If you have vegetation growing around your home, it's time to create some clearance. You might not know this, but unwanted vegetation can pose a serious problem for your home. It can also create a nuisance situation for you. Vegetation includes dead grass, weeds, or other types of brush. Luckily, it can be removed quite easily. In fact, you can hire a service to remove the vegetation from around your home. If you're not sure why you need to remove the vegetation, read the list provided below. You'll find four ways you can protect your home once you remove the vegetation.

Fires

If you haven't removed the vegetation from around your home, it's time to think about fires. Bushfires can send embers flying up to 40 kilometres. If you have dry vegetation around your home, the embers can start a raging fire in your yard. That's because embers use the vegetation as kindling. One of the best ways to protect your home against bushfire damage is to clear away the vegetation. That way, you have a protective zone around your home.

Pests

If you've got dry vegetation around your home, you could have a hidden pest problem. It's not uncommon for pests to build nests in the dry vegetation. Not only that, some pests use the vegetation as a hiding place. This is especially true for snakes, spiders, and scorpions. Unfortunately, some of these pests can pose a health risk for you, and for your pets. That's why vegetation clearing is so important. Before your home is overrun with pests, take the time to have the vegetation removed from your yard.

Drainage

If you own your home, you need to be concerned about flooding. One big flood can destroy your home. Smaller flood problems can also wreak havoc on your home. This is especially true where the foundation is concerned. That's where vegetation clearance comes into the picture. If there's too much vegetation around the perimeter of your home, water won't drain as well as it should. Unfortunately, lack of drainage can cause serious damage to your home. Improve the drainage around your home, and reduce the risk for floods. Schedule vegetation clearing as soon as possible.

Appearance

If you have dry brush that needs to be removed from your property, your home might not look as nice as it should. Dry brush can undermine the appearance of your home. Unfortunately, it can also decrease your property's value. You can restore the appearance of your home by clearing away the unwanted vegetation.
